USBCI Programs at the 2026 Utah Risk Management Summit

The Utah Small Business Credit Initiative (USBCI) took center stage as a key sponsor and contributor at the 2026 Utah Risk Management Summit, hosted on September 15 by the ProSight RMA Mountain States Chapter at the Zions Technology Center in Midvale.

Under the theme “Stronger Today. Safer Tomorrow,” the annual summit brought together financial, credit, and risk leaders from across Utah to address emerging credit risks, regulatory developments, and economic strategies to support commercial growth.

Driving Capital Growth & Risk Mitigation

USBCI served as an official sponsor alongside Access Business Finance and The University of Utah. During the mid-day program, USBCI Director Paul Jolley presented on USBCI’s mission to expand credit availability for small businesses throughout the state. His presentation highlighted how USBCI’s capital deployment programs, such as the Loan Participation Program and Capital Access Program, partner directly with financial institutions to share risk, lower borrowing costs, and make commercial lending more accessible.

USBCI Program Specialist Rafaela Eguiguren met with lenders, risk officers, and economic development partners throughout the day to discuss customized capital solutions and expand institutional participation in USBCI programs.

Collaborative Industry Leadership

The conference featured robust panel discussions and keynote presentations from prominent financial institutions and community organizations across the region, including representatives from Zions Bank, Silicon Slopes, WaFd Bank, Square, America First Credit Union, Intermountain Health, Castlebar Holdings, and the Utah Microloan Fund. Key topics included enterprise risk management, loan portfolio health, economic development, and community lending.

Author and public speaker Jodi Orgill Brown concluded the program with a presentation on personal resilience and leadership under pressure.

Expanding Partnerships Across Utah

Through ongoing participation in industry events like the Utah Risk Management Summit, USBCI continues to deepen its partnerships with banks, credit unions, and alternative lenders statewide. By pairing public funding tools with private credit expertise, USBCI helps financial institutions confidently manage risk while expanding vital access to capital for Utah’s small business community.
